BC Hydro business rebates

We find your rebate. Then we do the paperwork.

BC Hydro’s Business Energy Saving Incentives (BESI) program pays part of the cost of replacing old lighting with approved LED fixtures. The rules are strict: the wrong fixture, or one ordered a day too early, and the claim is lost. That’s the part we take off your plate.

Checked before you commit

A fixture being on BC Hydro’s list isn’t enough. It has to be approved for the exact retrofit we’re claiming, and the wattage BC Hydro records for it has to be under that retrofit’s limit. Our app checks both for every line, so the rebate in your estimate is one BC Hydro will pay.

The audit turns into a short report: what you have now, what we’d put in, what BC Hydro pays, what you save each year and how long it takes to pay back. A second page shows the math in plain language, so your accountant or your landlord can check it.

The rebate, step by step

Seven steps. You do two of them.

  1. Massey

    Lighting survey

    We count and identify every fixture, and check each replacement against BC Hydro’s list of eligible products.

  2. You

    You register with BC Hydro

    You open an account on BC Hydro’s program site and send us your username and BC Hydro account number. We walk you through it.

  3. Massey, then you

    Proposal and application

    We draft the proposal in BC Hydro’s system. You submit it as your application.

  4. BC Hydro

    Approval

    Nothing is ordered or installed until BC Hydro’s approval email arrives.

  5. Massey

    Order and install

    We order from an Alliance distributor and install. Photos are taken on install day for the file.

  6. Massey, then you

    Invoice and declaration

    We fill in the declaration of what was installed. You submit it with the invoice.

  7. BC Hydro

    Review and payment

    BC Hydro may inspect the work, then sends the incentive cheque to you, usually about 4 to 6 weeks later.

The rule that costs the most money

Nothing can be bought or installed before BC Hydro approves the application. Fixtures bought beforehand are disqualified, and there is no appeal. We hold every order until the approval email arrives.

Questions

Before you book an audit.

Does every LED fixture qualify?

No. BC Hydro approves specific products for specific retrofits, each with a wattage limit. We check both before we write your estimate.

Who gets the rebate money?

You do. BC Hydro sends the incentive cheque to the business, usually about 4 to 6 weeks after the paperwork is in.

Is my business eligible?

The program is for BC Hydro business customers. We’ll confirm your account and which of your fixtures qualify on the walk-through.

Can you work around our hours?

Yes. We plan the install around your business, including after-hours work where the building can’t go dark during the day.

Do you do lighting without a rebate?

Yes. New lighting for tenant improvements, signs, parking areas and exterior walls, rebate or not.
